“Ultrafast” aR Fuse – Partial Semiconductor Protection

AR ultrafast NH fuse is used as a fuse for semiconductor protection. Designed for voltages from 690V to 1000V, the burning time of the ultra-fast NH fuse is shorter than the burning time of the NH fuse of other actuations.

Modern fuses are made in various shapes and sizes, but they all have the same main characteristics. Although all fuse components influence its overall performance, the most important part is the fuse element. It is made from a high electrical conductivity material (silver) and is shaped to produce a reduced number of sections commonly referred to as “weak points”. It is mainly these reduced sections that control the operating characteristics of the fuse. The element is surrounded by an arc-extinguishing material, generally based on quartz, which “extinguishes” the arc, which is formed when the reduced sections melt. It is this function that gives the fuse its ultra-fast limiting ability.
